Curbside Pickup Service is available as of June 18, 2020. See below for more details.
Please reach out to us about any questions you have by:
- Filling out our ask a librarian form anytime
- Calling 978-829-1780 during the library’s normal operating hours (M-Th 10am-8pm, F 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-4pm)

Place your holds one of three ways:

Please limit your search to five (5) Fitchburg items. If you don’t have specific items in mind, please call or email us - a librarian will be happy to select some titles for you.
You will be notified by phone or email when your request is ready. Mask will be required to pick up items.
Pickup Times are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 10:00am - 2:00pm (days and times subject to change)
When you arrive, call and give us your name and last 4 numbers of your library card. Please stand in the designated area. Staff will bring your item on a cart. Take the item after staff has reentered building.
All returns must be put in the book drops. No items can be given to staff. All returns will be quarantined for 3 days.
If you have an item that is too large for the book drop (puzzles, games, art prints, etc)., please give us a call to arrange a drop-off time.
Item Due Dates
New items being checked out will have standard 3-week (book) or 1-week (DVD) loan periods. All items will have one automatic renewal. Please note that the Fitchburg Public Library does not charge overdue fees. See here for all of our standard lending policies.
If you would like to sign up for a new library card to check out items via curbside pickup, please call (978-829-1780) or email us (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If your library card has expired, if you have any problems accessing online resources with your card, please get in touch with us.
Holds & Interlibrary Loans
If you have holds waiting for pickup, they are eligible for curbside pickup service. You should have received a phone call or email about picking up your items. If you have not, please reach out to us.
Statewide delivery service has resumed as of June 22, 2020, but we anticipate delays for new requests as they first need to catch up on backlogs from March. You are welcome to request interlibrary loan items, but please note they will not arrive as quickly as usual. Library staff will contact you when your items are available for curbside pickup.
