A combined sewer overflow (CSO) event is occurring at 543 Main Street at Post Office. The City of Fitchburg outfall number CSO 032 is currently active, and is located CSO 032 Under Northeast Side of Circle Street Bridge. This CSO discharges to the North Nashua River. Historically, CSO 032 has discharged an average estimated volume of 44,500 gallons when a total storm event of 1-inch has occurred. Overflow consists, or likely consists, of untreated or partially treated sewage and waste. Avoid contact with these water bodies for 48 hours after the discharge or overflow ceases due to increased health risks from bacteria and other pollutants.
