Composting can be a valuable tool for supply your garden with nutrient rich soil and to reduce your trash output by as much as 20%! We put together some resources for you to begin composting some kitchen scraps, grass clippings and even tree leaves. To help collect kitchen compostables, the Health department is making available to Fitchburg residents a compost collection bin for your kitchen at a cost of only $5.00. These are available at the Health Department counter at City Hall.

Additionally, the Health Department is making available, through a grant from MassDEP, Earth Machine Compost Bins for only $25, a deep discount from their regular price of around $200. These are available to order through April 21, 2025. To order yours, follow this link and it will be delivered to 200 Boulder Dr for you to collect it on June 7, 2025.
