Outreach Delivery Program
The Fitchburg Public Library is pleased to offer a new service to help patrons in our community who would like to borrow items, but are not able to get to the library due to health or transportation issues.
If you are interested in this service, please fill out the Outreach Delivery Service Application Form, and mail it to: Fitchburg Public Library, Attn: Outreach Delivery Program, 166 Boulder Drive, Suite 108, Fitchburg, MA 01420. If you prefer, you can also fill out and submit this form online here.
What is Outreach Delivery?
The Outreach Delivery service allows patrons to have materials selected and delivered on a monthly basis.
Outreach delivery recipients must be home or have a household member available to receive the delivery at the scheduled date/time. Library items will be delivered by a staff member or volunteer and left outside the door. Staff members and volunteers are not allowed to enter the home, but the staff member will ensure items are collected by a household member before leaving. If no one is home, the items will not be left and the delivery will need to be rescheduled.
Who is eligible for the delivery service?
Outreach Delivery is available to Fitchburg residents who have health or transportation issues that keep them from the library. You must also have an active library card. If you need one or aren’t sure of the account number, we can help you.
What types of materials can be borrowed?
Items owned by the Fitchburg Public Library, including:
Books, large and regular print
Audio Books (on CD)
Magazines
Movies on DVD/Blu-ray
Music CDs
Ideally, materials will be delivered and retrieved on the same day. We can select items for you by title or author, or if you prefer, library staff will select a variety of materials based on your reading interests and preferences.
When can I expect delivery to my home?
Delivery is scheduled monthly. Once your application has been received, library staff will contact you to let you know when you can expect your first delivery.
Who should I contact with questions or concerns? The Fitchburg Public Library staff is available via phone at 978-829-1780 (option 2 for Reference) or via email at fplref@cwmars.org.
